When will the artist residency be held?

The first cycle of the artist residency will be held September - November 2024, in our art center in Addis Ababa. Subsequent dates will be announced soon.

What are the applications dates?

Application are open now; the priority date is June 20th, 2024.

What are the fees to attend the residency?

The artist residency costs $550 USD for applications submitted by the priority deadline, and $750 USD for applications submitted afterwords.

Is the residency only for Ethiopian artists?

The current artist residency is for Ethiopian artists, and artists from the Ethiopian diaspora. The international artist residency will be open at a later time.

How are admissions managed?

All applications are judged by an anonymous admission board. Applications will be evaluated based on merit and potential of the artists to make use of the residency to grow in their own creative practice.

What’s included in the residency?

The residency includes the following: access to fully equipped private studios within the center; monthly art supply allowance; access to our Labs & Shops to experiment with new materials, equipment and other forms of art; participation in monthly talks with renowned and international speakers, including artists, curators, critics; professional development opportunities such as public speaking, marketing, website design, coaching, etc; access to our art space and gallery in Ethiopia, US and Italy to showcase your work; and more.
